By Your Side

Weary and wasted,
Is how I feel tonight,
And when I see you,
I lose the tired fight.

The light in the room,
It shines brighter,
For you’re there with me,
And my heart feels lighter.

I feel like me,
Just because you with me walk,
The way you look at me,
And the way your eyes talk.

The world seems happier,
When I look at you smile,
Though we’ve walked,
Together mile after mile.

I pray to God today,
That for as long as I’m alive,
And even when I’m gone,
May my love always be by your side.

Two Can Play That Game

love hate relationship

In my mind’s eye I see,
A life of compounded complexity,
Days in each other collide,
In no one can I now confide.

Running through life,
Leaving all behind,
Yet waiting for you,
All this I wish you knew.

On the sidelines of my life,
I stand and look at myself,
All I can see in my heart,
Is the longing for a fresh start.

In the blink of an eye,
All the colors change,
And once again I’m lost,
And my heart’s encased in frost.

Friends have fallen away,
Foes have taken me in their embrace,
Family seems to flee,
And I want you with me.

Life is shorter than I thought,
Seems like just yesterday,
Was our story’s start,
When nothing could keep us apart.

Blessed be our younger selves,
For wiser still they had been,
To pause and drink in the love,
Their minds as free as a dove.

As I walk away from the memory,
Step after step in a new direction,
I wish it was towards you that I came,
Just so you know, two can play that game.

Don’t Forget To Try

This world is noisy,
It’s a strange place,
It plays tricks,
And lacks grace.

Here today,
Gone tomorrow,
Such is the way,
With happiness and sorrow.

I wait around,
For the sight of reason,
To understand that,
Even love has its season.

Dreams will visit,
Nightmares in tow,
Happiness is slow to come,
And so quick to go.

But we live on,
Despite the threats,
Walk ahead regardless,
Of the lies we are fed.

Step after step,
Courage amplifies,
The laws of the land,
A brave man defies.

Deliverance comes,
To who might cry,
Who despite the tears,
Never forgets to try.

The Circus

We live in a circus,
We’re the audiences,
And the ringmasters,
As far as this show goes.

Each day brings a new gig,
We learn to laugh and cry,
With the changes in the acts,
To march on we try.

We pull the strings,
Of our lover’s hearts,
Turn them into puppets,
Kill the show before it starts.

The music of the carousel,
Reminds us to watch our backs,
Its eerie and mechanical tinkling,
Shows us our guilt in stacks.

This is a circus, no doubt,
Comes alive after we’ve closed our eyes,
Its a kaleidoscope of our memories,
A testament to how time flies.

The colors change,
The acts evolve,
We turn around to see,
Our goodness  dissolve.

Until the arrival of the final special,
The grand curtain raiser of the show,
We look on in awe at the magic,
In the recesses, trumpets blow.

In the end of this spectacular,
Amidst  the fanfare and the fire,
We learn the art of leading this show,
Learn to soldier on till we tire.

When we perish and die,
We revisit our moments of glory,
The limelight now looks fake,
Life is a circus surely.
